A Unique Approach to Community Paramedicine on the Reservation

This lecture will describe the unique way that the Pueblo of Laguna, a rural New Mexico community, is implementing a team-based approach to community paramedicine.   Local paramedics from the fire department work closely with community health nurses and representatives to provide comprehensive care to community members resulting in fewer trips to the hospital and improvements in overall patient and population health. This is a model of care that can easily be replicated in other communities serving Native Americans and Alaska Natives.
