Silver Trauma: Are Geriatric Patients Just Old Adults?

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Are geriatric patients just “old” adults?  No! Geriatric trauma patients have different mechanisms and patterns of injury, complicating medications and medical problems, as well as physiologic differences that make them very different from younger adults in both presentation and outcomes from trauma.  Differences including cervical spine injury, traumatic brain injury, and shock index will be discussed.  EMS agencies should consider special protocols for geriatric patients.
