Successes and Challenges of Existing MIH/CP Programs

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Today, MIH systems are a growing aspect of EMS. They have recently become a priority for many agencies across the U.S. However, there is a growing body of evidence demonstrating that many of these programs have not met expectations, thus leading to disillusionment in some venues. The purpose of this session will be to analyze and review some of the reasons for those challenges and to suggest not only different models but also future directions for programs from the perspectives of a cadre of experienced providers who’ve had both failure and successes.
Among topics of discussion will be the pros and cons of hospital and ACO-based programs, a focus on specific low-hanging fruit such as hospice programs and Telehealth and medical home monitoring, and medication assisted therapy and transitional programs for mental health and addictive behaviors.
