Dr. Corey Slovis is Professor of Emergency Medicine and Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University.  He is board certified in emergency medicine, internal medicine and is also board certified in EMS.

Dr. Slovis served as Fire Surgeon for the City of Atlanta and headed Grady Hospital EMS for approximately ten years during the 1980’s.  He has been in Nashville since 1992, when he became Nashville Fire Department’s Assistant Medical Director and has served as the Medical Director of the Nashville Fire Department since 2000.  He has served as the Medical Director for Nashville International Airport since 2006.

Dr. Slovis speaks nationally on EMS topics and routinely presents at national meetings including EMS Today, EMS Word and the American College of Emergency Medicine (ACEP).  He has published more than 100 peer reviewed journal articles, studies and book chapters throughout his career.  Most recently he served as one of the five senior authors of the book, “Avoiding Errors in EMS”.  Dr. Slovis’ teaching expertise was recognized by his peers when they created the “Corey M Slovis Excellence in Teaching Award” that is presented each year by the Major Metropolitan Municipalities EMS Medical Directors, a group of EMS Medical Directors that represents almost 100,000,000 covered lives in America’s largest cities.
