Hans Blomberg, MD, PhD is the medical director responsible for coordinating EMD centers across several Swedish regions. He is involved in implementing nurse-based dispatch systems, and leads research in methods to improve triage accuracy. Hans is a board member of the Swedish National Society of Prehospital Care.

Hans specialized in anesthesia and intensive care in 2000, and worked initially at the ICU and the helicopter service at Uppsala University Hospital. He later turned towards prehospital care and has been working as the Medical director of the ambulance service at the University Hospital of Uppsala, Sweden, since 2003, while keeping up with his clinical skills at the helicopter service. Hans wrote his dissertation on the education and training of prehospital staff, and their impact on patient outcomes in 2013. Together with two colleges Hans created an award-winning digital decision support system for medical triage at the prehospital dispatch center. This dispatch system has been in clinical use since 2009, and has fulfilled its clinical purpose. With the intention to reach an even higher precision in the dispatching of prehospital resources, Hans et al have recently started a project to use historical data in machine learning models to predict patient outcomes.
